LIVE STREAM: January 21, 2017 New White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer Delivers Statements to the press in his first official briefing/ press conference as Press Secretary. President Donald Trump Delivers Remarks at Headquarters. Sean Spicer held his first press conference today as the new White House press secretary, though it wasn’t so much of a news conference as it was a full-scale tear against the media Spicer started things off by blasting the recent reports about how President Trump removed a bust of Martin Luther King Jr. from the Oval Office. The story has been disproven, and Spicer blasted those who circulated the reports as “reckless and irresponsible.” Not a moment afterwards, Spicer turned his ire towards reporters who noted that Trump didn’t have a particularly large crowd for his inauguration compared to past presidents. Spicer said that these media figures were working to “minimize the enormous support” that got Trump elected, and that it was “shameful and wrong” to put out “inaccurate” numbers and pictures about the crowds. “This was the largest audience to witness an inauguration. Period!” Spicer said. Spicer also used his opening remarks to talk about Trump’s speech today with the CIA, where Trump took his own shots at the media while saying that he stands with the intelligence community. Earlier today, the White House placed photos from the inauguration inside of the Briefing Room, which might have been an effort to boost the appearance of Trump’s crowd.
