Senator Al Franken (D-MN) is expected to ask some tough questions of Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch during his confirmation hearing. Today in his opening statement Franken gave Gorsuch a preview of the topics he would be asking about. Franken said that the Senate Judiciary Committee's job was to determine if Gorsuch's interpretation of the constitution "is one that will make real its promise of justice and equality to all all Americans — black and white, immigrant, native american, gay, straight and transgender." Franken expressed concern that Gorsuch might favor corporations over working families "or limit the ability of Minnesotans to get their day in court." Franken brought up that President Obama's nominee for the Supreme Court vacancy — Judge Merrick Garland— was not given a hearing. Franken called that a "dereliction of duty."
